Expanding opportunities for community service by active Foreign Service personnel and families at U.S. diplomatic missions.

The J. Kirby Simon Foreign Service Trust is a charitable fund established in the memory of Kirby Simon, a Foreign Service Officer who died in 1995 while serving in Taiwan. The Trust is committed to expanding the opportunities for community service, professional fulfillment and personal well-being of Foreign Service Officers and Specialists and their families. The trustees are present or former members of the Foreign Service/State Department community and friends.

Given the current state of uncertainty at the State Department, USAID, and other agencies represented overseas, and in order to give applicants sufficient time to develop and submit applications, we are postponing the 2025 grant cycle. Watch this space for the new deadline, anticipated within the next month or two. If you have questions about how this change might affect your proposal, please contact us at kirbysimontrust@gmail.com

Instructions are here. Read about 2024 and other past grantees here.

Should you have any questions about the Trust, please email us at kirbysimontrust@gmail.com.

The Trust has been funded with contributions from Kirby Simon’s colleagues, friends, relatives, and other supporters of the Trust.
